Hearts for Our Hospital / Big Bike Weekend Recap
A really big “Thank You!” to all our club members that supported this great charity event by riding, volunteering, sponsoring or doing all three! Through your efforts we were able to raise an estimated $74,000 this year. The money supports The Villages Regional Hospital Auxiliary Foundation’s mission to purchase special capital equipment and award medical education scholarships to area high school seniors pursuing degrees in medical and allied health related fields. This brings the four-year total to $201,000. That is amazing! It also puts your club well on its way to achieving the current goal we have of raising $325,000 for the Foundation. Additional contributions continue to flow in so it will be a few more weeks before the actual number is known.
We are honored to have at our side two stand-up Title Sponsors lending their names and resources to the event: Quest Diagnostics and David’s World Cycle. While the event had in total over 41 sponsors, a special shout-out goes to those with direct connections to our club: Gerry Lachnicht through Sabal Trust who provided a pledge matching program, and Dan Graham through RJ Gator’s Florida Sea Grill and Bar sponsor of Das Krankenhaus Biergarten that greeted the riders at the finish line.
We are looking forward to taking the ride up yet another notch for the big 5TH ANNIVERSARY of the Hearts for Our Hospital / Big Bike Weekend next year. Mark your calendars now for November 8 – 10, 2019!!
