Okay, so far only Teresa England riding from St. Tropez has canceled tomorrow due to cold temperatures. So, from Barnes I'll be the guinea pig and cancel the C ride as its leader. Understand should you wish to ride in tomorrow's predicted temperatures, feel free to do so but be prepared to lead others who may show up.
Questions may arise such as: Do you have appropriate clothing for these temperatures? Of course I do. Have you ever ridden when it's this cold? Of course I have, even while living in Florida. Then Why are you cancelling?
My previous efforts in such weather was when I was young and dumb. Now that I'm older [77 by my last count] (the wiser part may not be applicable regardless of the temperature) I find that more recovery time is indicated when I make such questionable decisions. So, proceed tomorrow if you wish; please be cautious and dress appropriately; and hope for better weather although the outlook is still somewhat gruesome extending into early next week.
Remember last year we had no hurricanes to interrupt our efforts to achieve our mileage goals. So, consider this January as our 'hurricane season' and hope that doesn't interrupt us later in the year anyway. As we age we really don't need to prove anything any longer so enjoy The Villages for what it was intended.
Sincerely,
Norm
